Cloud9, online integrated development environment (IDE) supporting many different programming languages like PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python, JavaScript with Node.js and GO has been acquired by Amazon web services family.
Cloud9 co-founder and CEO Ruben Daniels announced this on the company’s official blog. In his words, “It's still business as usual -- we'll continue to work with our Ace Open Source community and to provide our innovative services to you and our hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide."
Over the years Cloud9 is providing a free version of its platform, as well as three premium editions. Integrating the IDE will make amazon web services more effective and appealing to its existing customers. AWS existing customers are using other IDEs like Microsoft Visual Studio.
Cloud9 is San Francisco and Amsterdam based company founded in 2010. In Series A funding from Accel Partners and Atlassian Software the company raised $5.5 million.
