Amazon’s division AWS re:Invent conference 2017 has already started. A few days back the company announced two important developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence. AWS has unveiled a machine learning lab, ML Solution Lab, to connect Amazon machine learning experts with customers and partners. It is also releasing new features of real-time face recognition and ability to recognize text in images within Amazon Rekognition.
With the announcement of Amazon ML Solutions Lab and enhancement to its image recognition platform, Amazon and AWS are seeing AI as an opportunity to grow its B2B business. Amazon ML Solutions Lab is designed in a way to take customers through the full process of machine learning implementation, combining educational workshops and boot camps, hands-on training in building custom models with a customer’s data.
“We can’t wait for developers to start their journeys into machine learning with the Amazon ML Solutions Lab,” said Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President of Amazon AI. “By combining the expertise of the best machine learning scientist and practitioners at Amazon with the deep business knowledge of our customers, the Amazon ML Solutions Lab will help customers get up to speed on machine learning quickly, and start putting machine learning to work inside their organizations.”
Talking about Rekognition features, the new updates show how Amazon is integrating AI to create new products based on artificial intelligence for its customers. The platform has received updates like detection and recognition of text in images, real-time face recognition across millions of faces, and 100 faces detection from photos showing crowds of people. Amazon has also claimed that Rekognition has given a 10 percent accuracy boost in facial recognition.
One of the popular customers of Rekognition platform includes Pinterest, the popular image-based social networking platform.
