The operating system which was built to surpass Google and provide a better experience than Android has now declared its official shut down. Cyanogen on 23rd December made an official announcement regarding it's shut down.
From its official blog,
“As part of the ongoing consolidation of Cyanogen, all services, and Cyanogen-supported nightly builds will be discontinued no later than 12/31/16. The open source project and source code will remain available for anyone who wants to build CyanogenMod personally.”
Currently, Cyanogen OS is supported by the smartphones like One Plus One and they have to move to CynogenMod ROM. The main issue with Cyanogen OS was the handset makers had to avoid android and other google services in order to give priority to Cyanogen.
Cyanogen was once determined to create some differences in the technology world. But due to laying off its staff, departing of CEO and parting way with another co-founder shook the stability of the company.
