Google shutting down its Drive Web Hosting Service

Google is going to shut down its Drive web hosting service and has recommended Blogger and Firebase hosting. The Google drive website hosting service is going to end for both users and developers and Google had announced its plan last year only. Drive web hosting by Google gave the ability to the users to publish their contents using Google Drive as the hosting platform. Google is taking down the service on August 31, 2016, which it had started in 2013. The Search Giant has mentioned in its blog , “In the time since web hosting in Drive was launched, a wide variety of public web content hosting services have emerged, and we think better options are available to people today. As a result, we have decided to discontinue this feature and focus on the core Drive and Google Apps experience”. Users and Developers who have hosted content or web pages via Google Drive will not be able to use access contents via "googledrive.com/host/[doc.id]". From August 21, 2016, web hosting option in Google Drive is not going to be accessible anymore. The fact that there are plenty of web hosting services with options for free or low-cost solutions that allow users to get their content on the internet. Google need not compete in that space and probably the search giant is shutting down the service in view of that. Probably, Google has taken this step because the company has understood that there are plenty of web hosting services which are now offering users to upload their documents online at a very low cost.
