Updates for Google Internet Of Things Platform - Android Things and Weave Platform

The Internet of Things or IoT is going to be the next big thing and Google knows it well. Google is trying its level best to connect simple household things to the internet. For its IoT developers, they have announced two new updates which will ease their way to create smart and connected things. Google is now going to introduce developer preview of Android things. It's going to be one of the important addition to the Google’s Internet of things platform. Now any android developer can build smart devices with the help Android APIs and Google services. As an android developer, I want to feel secure while working on any development. Thus, Google has also taken care of this, now developers will work under highly secured umbrella of Google getting direct updates. To make things simpler, they have also added some tools such as Android Studio, the Android Software Development Kit (SDK), Google Play Services, and Google Cloud Platform. Now they are just coming with the developer preview but as mentioned in the android official blog, in coming months they are going to introduce the secure infrastructure through which regular OS patches, security fixes, and regular updates will be done. The weave platform is the another update they are coming with. It will make easy for all types of devices to connect to the cloud and make an interaction with services like Google Assistant. Weave provides developers with all the cloud infrastructure, so without spending on cloud services developers can get all the required facilities. As of now Weave includes a device SDK supported in microcontrollers and a management console. But in the coming months, many new additions are going to happen such as additional device types, custom schemas/traits, and a mobile application API for Android and iOS. Merging process of Weave and Nest Weave is underway and it will enable all the devices to connect with each other in more secure and reliable way.
