On October 4, 2018, Microsoft Windows was in news with a new transformation in the Software Industry. The advanced roadmap for Windows 10 IOT takes another great step forward with this latest Windows 10 update, delivering edge intelligence with ML (machine learning), new monetization models, diverse silicon options, and industrial strength security for resellers and distributors.
The Microsoft Windows 10 October 2018 update for IoT devices comes with two releases basically, One is a semi-annual release and one more is Long Term Servicing release. The Semi channel offers new functionality with two feature updates per year and the long-term servicing channel offers only quality and security update without any new features over a ten-year period of time.
When it comes to device manufacturers, basically, updates are usually controlled through the device update center portal. Thereby it is easy to create their own updates at the end which are particular to their devices, and later can be distributed as they see fit. All these are a part of Windows 10 IoT core services, which came up in June. These Windows 10 IoT Core services include long-term OS support and services to assess device health and manage device updates.
Microsoft 10 IoT also provides a huge support to both Microsoft Intune and Azure IoT device management to offer more compatible device management for business IoT deployments.
Customers like Redback Technologies, Rockwell Automation, and Johnson control are already using Microsoft’s updated IoT capabilities.
Tools like these will definitely help the companies to manage the projects at scale, and deliver a successful project.
