On June 6, 2018, SAP announced the expansion of its SAP Leonardo Blockchain technologies to generate the business value for customers instantly. It also announced the general availability of SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain, a Blockchain-as-a-Service, which empowers every customer, developer, and partner to make blockchain beneficial and actionable to their business.
“We have introduced a blockchain co-innovation program with 65 customers participating in it, where we leverage the ecosystem to identify certain interests they have - the sweet spots - and try adding value to it,” said Zube.
Customers can now adopt blockchain capabilities as an addition to their enterprise systems with SAP. The newly released SAP HANA Blockchain service makes data management simple and easy with a unified view on all transactional enterprise data, regardless of where it exists in the blockchain or in the core systems. This enables businesses to build apps for decentralized architectures, like blockchain that is developed on top of the database technology, without any need to deal with the underlying convolutions that come with developing multiple blockchain-based networks and systems.
The company is now offering its customers the most advanced blockchain technologies MultiChain and Hyperledger Fabric, which would allow customers to “tailor their blockchain solutions to their specific business needs,” according to Zube. “We deeply believe in a technology-agnostic approach and therefore plan to provide even more blockchain technologies on SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain in the future to ensure our offering always meets our customers’ changing requirements.”
Enhancing the logic of cross-company collaboration, SAP has launched global blockchain consortium to unite the business mastery of partners, customers, and other similarly invested industry players. The companies such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Amkor, A³ via Airbus, UPS, FLEX, SAP, and Intel Corporation has joined the consortium as initial founding members.
