PMP Certification Process

  • Step 1: Confirm your eligibility to take the PMP exam. Refer PMP Handbook for details. Take a 35-hour PMP training

  • Step 2: Take the PMP exam and aim to score at least 80%. This is only a guideline as PMI does not prescribe a minimum percentage required to pass.

  • Step 3:  Pass the exam to become a certified Project Management Professional

No, there are no prerequisites for this course. However, there are specific professional and academic requirements if you plan to attempt the PMP exam.

PMP® Certification

PMP certifications are offered by Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI®), the accrediting body for PMP certification.

No, you cannot get certified without undertaking the course.

Once you have a PMP certification, you can set your sights on any of the certifications below:

There are ten steps to get yourself PMP certified. They are as follows: 

  1. Confirm your eligibility to become a PMP certified project manager. 
  2. Register on the PMI® website or become a PMI® member.
  3. Take 35 hours of PMP Training from an authorized trainer to earn 35 PDUs. 
  4. Explore the PMP classroom training schedules & dates to find a suitable session. 
  5. Register for the PMP Exam by filling the PMI® application form and get it approved. 
  6. Receive eligibility code from PMI, requesting payment. 
  7. Complete the credential fee payment ($405 for PMI members; $555 for non-members).  
  8. Schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE test center or via the online proctored testing solution. 
  9. Study the PMBOK® Guide thoroughly and prepare in a comprehensive manner for the exam. 
  10. Take the exam and aim for at least 80% or higher.

Yes, you will receive a course completion certificate once you complete the training.

Normally this process takes a week or five business days. It will take a little longer in case you are picked for a random audit. 

Yes, Your PMP Certification is only valid for three years. Since practices in project management are evolving you need to stay updated with the latest practices.

The PMP Certification has a validity of 3 years. You can maintain this certification if you earn and report 60 PDUs during this period and pay a renewal fee. Failing to do this will result in expiry of your PMP credential. At this point you will have to reapply to regain the credential.

PMP® Exam

The PMP exam contains 200 multiple-choice questions. Each question will have four options.

They may belong to any of the below six categories:

  • PMBOK® Guide knowledge question
The standards set for the PMP certification exam are high. It will take a few months of preparation to familiarise yourself with the contents of the PMBOK® guide and you should also take plenty of practice tests and quizzes. This will help you pass the exam in your first attempt.

The latest changes in the PMP exam came into effect on January 2, 2021.

Yes, you can reschedule or cancel the test within 48 hours of the start date. The fee for this is $70.  Any rescheduling withing the 48-hour window will result in a forfeit of your entire exam fee.

There is no fixed time to pass the exam. The preparation could take anywhere between a few weeks to a few months. An average of 180 hours would be needed to prepare for the exam.

You will get two additional attempts which have to be taken within a year. If you fail in both attempts, you will have to wait for a year before appearing for the exam again. 

Course Experience

The course is delivered through live and interactive instructor-led training sessions.

You will be able to listen, learn, and ask questions, to get all your doubts clarified from your instructor, who will be an experienced practitioner. 

All our classes are currently online. The online course is divided into several sessions of short durations. The size of the class is capped at 30 so that students gain a better learning experience. The participants and our trainers will virtually collaborate with one another with the help of webcams.

The instructor will be accredited trainers with experience in project management and in training the PMI course material. They are also subject matter experts, active in project manager roles.

Most of the class time is dedicated to exercises, discussions, and team collaboration, all facilitated by the PMP® trainer who is an experienced project manager. The course will focus on practical solutions to real-world project management scenarios.

You will need an internet browser and a tool like MS Word or notepad with windows or an equivalent environment and a fast internet connection.

Yes, the course material will be provided in advance. You will receive an email with a link to set your password, a few days in advance to course start date. This will give you access to the study plan and all the course materials.

The course material will include the course schedule, workbooks, assignments, assessments, and several case studies.

The sessions would be auto recorded subject to permission by PMI and the assigned trainer. You will have a lifetime access to the video recordings of training sessions.

No, you should not attend training through a phone or tab. Please join the training on a laptop or desktop.

If you get disconnected during the training, you will be able to re-join within half-an-hour.

Our training sessions are currently held online. Anyone with a stable internet, from anywhere across the world, can access the PMP® training and benefit from it.

If you miss a class, you will be able to access the class recordings at any time. At the start of every session, there will also be a 10-12-minute recap of the previous class.

No, this will be a live and interactive instructor-led training session during which you will be trained by accredited trainers.

We are currently using the Zoom platform for video conferencing. All the sessions and recordings will be available right from our learning platform.  

Yes, there are other participants who actively participate in the class. They remotely attend the online sessions from office, home, or any place of their choosing.
