PSM Certification

The certification will be issued by scrum.org which is the globally recognized body that certifies professionals of their proficiency in Agile. 

No, you will need to attend the course to take the exam. To learn you need to be trained by professionals with hands-on experience. 

After you complete your 16 hours of training scrum.org will send you your login.

Yes, everybody who completes the mandatory 16 hours of training will be awarded with a course completion certificate. 

After completing your 16 hours of training, you will be eligible to take a test. Once you pass this exam you will get certified. 

PSM Exam

The exam lasts for 60 minutes. You need to score a minimum of 85%. There will be 80 Multiple Choice Questions.

This is an open book exam. Our training will get you familiar with all the concepts you need to know to pass the exam easily. 

This will be an online test. It will be sent as an email from Scrum.org after you complete your two-day training. 

You will not be able to pause the test. You will have to finish it within 60 minutes. If there is an interruption in your connection or any technical difficulty you can access the same exam link and it will be at the question you stopped at. If your technical problem lasts for a longer duration, you will be able to set up a new test by sending a mail to support@scrum.org  

You can reattempt the test withing 14 days. Two attempts are allowed at no extra cost during the 14-day period. If you want more than two attempts, you will have to pay a fee. 

You will get the result as soon as you finish the exam. 

Workshop Experience

The sessions will be online and interactive in nature. You will learn by listening to instruction of a qualified trainer. There will be discussion sessions where any doubts and ideas can be discussed to enhance your understanding of the topics. 

The classroom sessions were a two-day program with 7 to 8 hours spent on training each day. The online course is divided into smaller sessions. The sessions will be done over video conference giving the participants and the trainer opportunities to interact with each other.  


There will also be exercises and activities where participants will collaborate with each other. 

This program will be led by Professional Scrum Trainers (PSTs). They are licensed by Scrum.org to teach this course. They also have hands-on industry experience and will help you understand how to execute the concepts that you learn. 

You will need a Windows or an equivalent environment along with an internet browser and a fast internet connection.  

Yes, you will be receiving a login link. On logging in you will get access to course materials and accompanying instructions. It will include course materials, schedule, workbooks, assignments, case studies, and assessments. 

The sessions will be auto recorded, and you will have access to watch recordings subject to permission from the trainer and Scrum.org. 

No, you will need to use a laptop or a desktop to participate in this training. 

You will be able to login again if you lose your connection. In case you miss a class, you will be able to view a recording. These will be subject to the instructor’s preferences and Scrum.org’s guidelines.

PSM™

PSM™ or Professional Scrum Master™ certification validates your knowledge of Scrum. There are three levels of PSM™ Certification available: PSM™ I, PSM™ II and PSM™ III. 

PSM™ Certification is a little difficult and needs more preparation. To pass the PSM™ I certification exam, you must score at least 85%, which is extremely high especially considering the time limit of 60 minutes for 80 questions.

  • To get CSM certification, you have to attend the 2-day training under an accredited training provider; however, for PSM™, certification training is not mandatory. 
  • The passing score for the CSM certification exam is 69%, while for PSM, the passing score is 85%. 
  • The CSM certification exam features only multiple-choice questions. PSM, on the other hand, feature multiple-choice, multiple-answer, and true/false type questions. 
  • The cost of CSM certification can vary anywhere from $400 to $2500, depending on the training provider. The PSM™ certification cost will vary with respect to the certification levels - CSM I, CSM II and CSM III are available at $150, $250, and $500, respectively. 
  • CSM certification has a 2-year validity, after which you will have to pay $100 and renew it. PSM™ is has a lifelong validity and therefore doesn’t have to be renewed.

Follow these steps to get PSM™ certified:  

  • STEP 1: Get trained by Professional Scrum Trainer (PSTs) offline or attend 16 hours of live online training led by a PST. 
  • STEP 2: Upon successful course completion, you will receive the exam link with the assessment key from Scrum.org. 
  • STEP 3: Click on the Scrum.org exam link, log in with the assessment key and take the 60-minute online exam featuring 80 questions. 
  • STEP 5: Pass the PSM™ exam by scoring a minimum of 85% and download the PSM™ I Certification. 

Note: If the student takes the exam within 14 days (of receiving this email with the password) and scores less than 85%, they are entitled to the 2nd attempt at no cost.

You can click on the Scrum.org exam link, log in with the assessment key and take the 60-minute online exam. 

If you fail the PSM™ exam, you can re-attempt the exam at no cost within 14 days of receiving the assessment key. Please note that there’s no re-evaluation for the PSM™ I exam.

There are no limits to the number of times you can attempt the exam. The Scrum.org allows you to take the PSM™ I exam at no cost for the first 2 attempts within 14 days after receiving your assessment key. Every attempt after that will be charged. 

PSM® Exam Prep

Preparing for the PSM™ exam involves gaining an in-depth knowledge of the Scrum framework and its concepts. You can either take references from the internet or join a training institute. Here are some more tips that will help you prepare for the PSM™ certification exam:

PDUs and SEUs

SEUs are Scrum Educational Units, issued by the Scrum Alliance and marks your educational experience needed to earn the CSP (Certified Scrum Professional) Certification. 

PDUs are Professional Development Units issued by the Project Management Institute. You receive PDUs when you complete the Scrum Master course.  

On completing 14 hours of PSM™ training, you will receive 14 PDUs and 14 SEUs. 

Follow these steps to claim the PDUs you received for attending the PSM™ course: 

  1. Log in to PMI.org using your login credentials.  
  2. Once you log in, click on ‘Report PDUs’. 
  3. On the next landing page, click on ‘Course or Training’ under Education. 
  4. Enter/select the name of the institution from where you received the training. 
  5. Complete all the fields to provide the details for the claim. 
  6. Enter/modify the PDUs in line with the PMI Talent Triangle™ 
  7. Enter the PDU values under different skill areas. 
  8. In the next step, you need to click on ‘I agree this claim is accurate’. 
  9. Once you agree to the terms, you need to submit your PDU claim.  
  10. Once you click on the ‘Submit’ button, you will receive a transaction notification that shows multiple Claim IDs for multiple certifications. 
  11. Print the notification or continue to report another claim.
